Jeanerette"A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Norby L. Dooley, Sr., 87, of Jeanerette will be celebrated on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Reverend Ed Degeyter will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 18, 2006 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.
Mr. Dooley passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at 8:00 A.M. in a New Iberia hospital.
A native of Iberia Parish, Mr. Dooley was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Dooley was a barber for many years before his retirement.
Survivors include his sons, Norby L. Dooley, Jr. of New Iberia and Clyde Dooley of Gramercy; grandchildren, Tristan and Erin Dooley of West Caldwel, NJ, and Samuel and Elizabeth Dooley of Keizer, OR; and brothers L.C. Black Dooley of Jeanerette and Tilly Dooley of Arizona.
Preceding Mr. Dooley in death are his wife, Eva Louise Landry Dooley; parents, Louis and Sedonia Deslatte Dooley; daughter, Mary Catherine Dooley; brothers, Donald and Percy Dooley; and sister, Bella Thibodeaux.
Serving as pallbearers are friends and family of Mr. Dooley. Named as honorary pallbearers are Tristan, Erin, Samuel, and Elizabeth Dooley.
David Funeral Home of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.
