Loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. John O. Sonnier, Sr. the former Hazel Benoit, 83, on Thursday, September 7, 2006 at 2:00 PM at David Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Jimmy Wilson officiating. A native of Gueydan, LA and a resident of New Iberia, LA, Mrs. Sonnier died on Monday, September 4, 2006, at 6:43 PM in a local nursing home. Visitation will begin on Thursday, September 7, 2006, from 9:00 AM until service time at David Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 11:00 AM on Thursday prior to service time. Mrs. Sonnier was a homemaker. She is survived by three sons; John O. Sonnier, Jr. and his wife Doris of Lafayette, LA, Paul Sonnier, and Bryan Sonnier both of Alexandria, LA; four daughters, Jean Lopez and her husband Preston of New Iberia, LA, Shirley Darby and her husband Carroll of New Iberia, LA, Jeanette Byrd and her husband Joe of New Iberia, LA, and Betty Guillot and her husband Rickie of New Iberia, LA; two brothers, Raymond Benoit and Ovey Benoit Jr. both of Gueydan, LA; three sisters, Grace Migues of New Iberia, LA, AnaMae Broussard of Gueydan, LA and Pasty Debiasi of New Iberia, LA. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John O. Sonnier, Sr.; one son, Jimmy Sonnier, and one daughter, Belinda Stevens.; parents, Ovey Benoit and Ella LeMaire Benoit. David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
