Jeanerette " Funeral Services will be conducted for Joseph Elton Joe Muffoletto, Sr.. Age 83, at 11:00 AM Monday October 16, 2006 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow in St. Johns Mausoleum. Visitation will begin on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006 at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Monday, Oct. 16, 2006 at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 6:30 PM. A native and lifelong resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Muffoletto died on Friday, Oct. 12, 2006 at 9:20 PM at his residence. He retired as a roustabout after working for Exxon for over 30 years and was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Navy. He served as an Usher at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, coached Little League Baseball for 20 years, Iberia Parish Sheriffs Baseball League for 5 years and was part owner of Mama Muffs Restaurant in Jeanerette. He is survived by three sons, Joseph E. Muffoletto, Jr. and his wife Cindy of New Iberia, Michael P. Muffoletto and his wife Janice of Broussard, Robert C. Bobby Muffoletto and his wife Yvonne of Jeanerette; one daughter, Mona M. Zehner and her husband Damian Zehner, Sr. of Jeanerette; one daughter-in-law, Cynthia S. Muffoletto of Jeanerette; and one sister, Christine Teenie Armentor and her husband Mike of New Iberia. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hortense Muffoletto; his son, George Muffoletto, his father, Paul Muffoletto; his mother, Josephine Pirraro Muffoletto; four sisters, Sarah Liberto, Dora Macaione, Carrie Muffoletto and Rose Gautreaux; and three brothers, Vincent Muffoletto, Sam Muffoletto and Thomas Muffoletto. Pallbearers will be Joey Muffoletto, Bobby Muffoletto, Jr., Chad Muffoletto, Chris Muffoletto, Riley Muffoletto and Brandon Muffoletto. Honorary pallbearers will be Fernand Paul Muffoletto and Damian Zehner, Sr.. David Funeral Home of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.
