Mr. David was born in Delcambre on April 9, 1914 and went to be with the Lord at his residence in Youngsville on Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at 1:25 am.
He was born and raised on a farm near Delcambre, La. until his mom passed away when he was 9 years old. Being the youngest of nine children, he lived with one of his older brothers most of his life. At the age of 16 he married Eloise Savoy of Youngsville, whom at the time was 14 years old. Ulric devoted much of his life to farming. During his spare time he would meet with Mr. Alphe Mouton, who was a blacksmith, who taught him the trade. But he never followed up with becoming a blacksmith, because blacksmiths were not needed at the time. His dearest hobby was raising pigeons, doves, pheasants, just a menagerie of birds. He worked diligently at the cotton gin, the potato factory and the sugar cane factory in their respective seasons. He also became a welder until Rheumatoid arthritis forced him to retire. Following his retirement he raised cattle until his disability became so severe that he was forced to give the cattle over to his daughter and son in law. He was a man with a great sense of humor, always telling jokes he had learned from his uncles, and singing old songs. He was also a terrific dancer!
He is survived by one daughter, Della David Trahan and husband Harold of Youngsville, three grandchildren, Steven Michael Trahan, Cheryl Elizabeth Dugas and husband Richard Anthony all of Youngsville, Mark David Trahan and wife Michele Picou of Scott; five great grandchildren, Elizabeth Renee Dugas, Emily Ann Dugas, and Eric Anthony Dugas, all of Youngsville, Ethan Lane Trahan and Kade Allen Trahan of Scott; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Eumea Miquez, his father, Emile David, four brothers, Leonce,Mozard, Aymar, and Etude David and four sisters, Marie Emilda David Hebert, Elda David Romero, Elizabeth David and Cecile David.
Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Dugas, Ethan Trahan, Randy Savoy, Joe David, John David, and Kevin Sonnier. Alternates will be Gerald Romero and Robert Abshire. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Anthony Dugas and Kade Allen Trahan, and Mark David Trahan.
