Erath " Funeral Services for Mr. James Jake Tipper, 72, will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday January 17, 2008 at The David Funeral Home Chapel of Erath with Rev. Pres Riley officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath on Wednesday January 16, 2008 from 4:00PM until 9:00 PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday January 17, 2008 from 8:00 AM until time of services. Internment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. Mr. Tipper, a native of Quincy, FL and a resident of Erath died at 2:10AM on January 15, 2008 at Lafayette General Medical Center. He served his country in the US Army then worked with Odeco, which is now Diamond Offshore for over thirty years before retiring. He was known for his love of riding horses, camping and trail riding. He was also known for raising several kinds of farm animals. He is survived by his wife Dolores Lange Tipper of Erath; his son Brian Tipper and his wife Susan Tipper of Erath; his two daughters Darlene Knight and her husband Cecil Knight of Erath and Kathleen Gaspard and her husband Dave Gaspard of Abbeville; his five sisters, Clara Johnson of Tallahassee, FL, Mary Mora of New Iberia, Marie Pierce of St. Petersburg, FL, Rebecca Esther of Crestview, FL, and Alice Ellis of Colquitte, GA; his nine grandchildren, Kristy Tipper of Erath, Julianna Tipper of Erath, Jake Tipper of Erath, Cody Knight of Erath, Nicholas Knight of Erath, and Jedd Knight of Erath, Lauren Gaspard of Abbeville, Taylor Gaspard of Abbeville, and Lexi Gaspard of Abbeville; and his two great-grandchildren Jerid Sumners, Jr. of Erath and Logan Sumners of Erath. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Pope Tipper and Alma Lea Smith Tipper; his two brothers Lewis Tipper and John Tipper; two sisters Thelma Rudd and Willie Eugenia Tipper; twin brother and sister, Joe and Josie Tipper; and a grandchild Baby Tipper. Serving as Pallbearers are Brian Tipper, Cody Knight, Nicholas Knight, Jedd Knight, Kurt Paul Primeaux and Michael Tipper.
