Loving Mother and Grandmother New Iberia " Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday December 13, 2008 at 11:00AM for Mrs. Ray Martinez, the former Shirley Sonnier, Age 68, at David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andy Starks officiating. Interment will follow in St. Marcellus Cemetery in Rynella. Visitation will be Friday December 12, 2008 from 2:00PM until 10:00PM and again Saturday from 8:00AM until time of service. She died Wednesday December 10, 2008 at 10:16AM in a New Iberia hospital. A native of St. Martinville and longtime resident of New Iberia Mrs. Martinez loved watching soap operas and being with her family. Survivors include three daughters; Kathy Leger and Cindy Derouen both of New Iberia and Margie Derouen of Loreauville, four sons; Alton, Ronald, Sr., Johnny and Bobby Picard, Sr. all of New Iberia and two sisters; Genevieve Racca and Louella Duhon both of New Iberia, 26 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband; Paul Picard, her parents; Marcellin and Armantine Theriot Sonnier, one sister; Cecile Sonnier, one brother; Dalton Sonnier and three grandchildren; Ashley, Brooke and David Derouen, Jr. Pallbearers will be Johnny, Shawn and Christopher Picard, Bobby Picard, Jr., Bobby Picard, Sr. and Chad Derouen. Honorary pallbearers will be Alton and Ronald Picard. David Funeral Home, 1101 Trotter St. , New Iberia, La. (337)369-6336 is in charge of arrangements.
