Jeanerette " Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. John Bussey Wormser, Sr., 86, the former Rita LeMaire on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007 at 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007 at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM. A native and lifelong resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Wormser died on Monday, Jan. 29, 2007 at 8:15 AM in a New Iberia hospital. She was a deputy sheriff with the Iberia Parish Sheriffs Office for 11 years and volunteered at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia for many years. She loved to bake and was known for her chocolate chip cookies which she shared with everyone. She was a very generous person and cherished time with her family. She is survived by her sister, Ruby LeMaire Rinker of Jeanerette; her sister-in-law, Bell Wormser of Palm Springs, CA; her granddaughters, Stephanie Patton of Lafayette and Jennifer Howard and her husband Alan of Baton Rouge; her great grandchildren, Alan-Henry Howard and Sophie Eliza Howard both of Baton Rouge and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Bussey Wormser, Sr.; father, Ulysse LeMaire; mother, Cedelise Hebert LeMaire; son, John Bussey Wormser, Jr.; daughter, Rita Mae Wormser Patton; sisters, Lena L. Landry, Eula L. Savoy, Claire L. Everette Brisco, Isabel L. Mouret and her brothers, Lovic LeMaire, Levy LeMaire, Fabian LeMaire, Sr. and Clarence LeMaire. Pallbearers will be Alan Howard, Brian Guidry, Pat Napier, Charles Mouret, Jr., Fabian Bib LeMaire, Jr. and Steve Patton. Honorary pallbearers will be Al Landry, Jr., Albert Sutz Livaudais and Guy Landry. David Funeral Home of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.
