Loving Father and Grandfather

New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Jack A. Oliver, 70, on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 2:30 PM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Bienvenu officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 8:00 AM until services.

A native of Carterville, MO and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Oliver died on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 1:00 AM in a New Iberia hospital. Mr. Oliver loved music, especially playing his piano, fishing and spending time with friends and family. He spent a lot of time coaching youth basketball in New Iberia and also served in the US Navy.

He is survived by his son, Rory S. Oliver and his wife Alice of New Iberia; daughters, Juana Lynn of Mesquite, TX, Denise M. Oliver of San Francisco, CA; grandson, Sean M. Oliver of New Iberia; brothers, Richard G. Oliver of Joplin, MO, Marvin E. Oliver of Menifee, CA; nephew, J. Richard Oliver of Joplin, MO and nieces, Tammy Custer of Cherry Valley, CA and Terri Profeta of Chula Vista, CA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maurie Robotham Oliver; father, James Everett Oliver; mother, Besse Potts Oliver; and brothers, Johnny and Tommy Oliver.

Pallbearers will be Richard Oliver, Sean Oliver, Melvin Petry, Brett Petry, Scott Petry and Mark Delcambre.

Honorary pallbearers will be Don Sheets, Ralph Gunlock, Lynn Boyer, Clete Boyer, Bobby Williams, Joe Cook, Max Buzzard and Pollard Lee.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the American Heart Association.

David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
