LOVING MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER

Jeanerette"A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Octave Gary, Sr., the former Rita LeBlanc, 83, of Jeanerette will be celebrated on Monday, April 2, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Reverend Ed Degeyter will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 1, 2007 from 2:00 P.M until 10:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.

Mrs. Gary passed away on Friday, March 30, 2007 at 2:55 P.M. in a New Iberia hospital.

A native of Iberia Parish and lifelong resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Gary was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she belonged to the Rosary Group. A retired cafeteria cook for the Iberia Parish School Board, she loved to prepare a good meal, especially for her family. Mrs. Gary enjoyed listening to music, especially Cajun French music, going to the casino, and playing cards with her friends. After retirement from the school board, she sat with and cared for elderly people, and she loved to babysit her grandchildren and friends children.

Survivors include her sons, Frank Gary and wife, Sally of Breaux Bridge and Octave Gary, Jr. and wife, Linda of Jeanerette; daughters, Rita Boudreaux and husband, John, Sr. of Franklin and Sandy Gaspard and husband, Wilton of New Iberia; grandchildren, Lindsey Trautman and wife, Rachel of New Iberia, Alicia Trautman and companion, Tobias Boutte of Coteau, Kalem Trautman of New Iberia, Trait Gaspard of New Iberia, Edvard Gaspard and wife, Nicole of New Iberia, Shane Gaspard and companion, Kayla Hulin of New Iberia, Shantelle Gaspard of New Iberia, Christy Gaspard and companion, Ivan McEntire of New Iberia, John Boudreaux, Jr. and wife, Janine of Franklin, Michelle Hebert and husband, Dirk of Youngsville, Sherry Gary and companion, Ernest Landry of Jeanerette, Trudy Landry and husband, Philip of New Iberia, Rachel Derouen and companion, Jason LeBlanc of Jeanerette, Shawn Silas and husband, Joseph of Jeanerette, Jody Gary and wife, Leyda of Hammon, Jill Pratt and husband, Randy of Breaux Bridge, Tiffany Romero and husband, Audie of Coteau, and Tyler Gary of Breaux Bridge; and 35 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Mrs. Gary in death were her husband, Octave Gary, Sr., parents, Edmund and Elide Bonin LeBlanc; brothers, Weakless, Dema, Romeal, Wilton, Juinus, and Clayonce LeBlanc; and sister, Aline Leger.

Serving as pallbearers are Mrs. Garys grandsons, Jody and Tyler Gary, John Boudreaux, Jr., Lindsey and Kalem Trautman, and Trait Gaspard. Named as honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters, Jill Pratt, Tiffany Romero, Michelle Hebert, Sherry Gary, Trudy Landry, and Alicia Trautman.
