"Loving Mother and a Devoted Housewife" LOREAUVILLE " Services for Mrs. Leonard Champeaux, the former Irene Mom Oubre, 92, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Onuegbe officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visiting hours will be observed Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at David Funeral Home. Mrs. Champeaux died at 8:35 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2007, at New Iberia Manor South. She is survived by her two sons, Gene Champeaux and wife Shirley, and Roland Champeaux and wife Norma, all of Loreauville; a daughter, Sylvia C. Latalois and companion Jacob of New Iberia; nine grandchildren; twenty-four grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and two step-great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Champeaux was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Champeaux; parents, Lee Pete and Regina Amy Oubre; sisters, May O. Moulis, Carmen O. Walet and Marie O. Viator; brothers, Anthony Tony Oubre and Leroy Oubre; and grandchildren, Jamie Champeaux and B.J. Latalois Jr. A lifelong resident of Loreauville, Mrs. Champeaux was a loving mother and devoted housewife. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her solitude time in later years. She will be sadly missed by family. The family will like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana and to New Iberia Manor South.
