Visitation will be Monday March 26 from 5:00PM till 9:00PM with a Rosary at 6:30PM and again Tuesday from 8:00AM till time of service.Interment will follow in Beau Pre Mausoleum. A native and resident of Jeanerette, Louisiana, she passed away at 9:30 p.m. on March 24, 2007, at her home in Jeanerette. Luella was a graduate of Jeanerette High, attended USL, and was an avid reader and student of current events. She devoted her life to her family, was wife to Wilbur for 53 years, the mother of eight children, grandmother of 24, and great grandmother of 15. When her husband, Wilbur, passed away in 1993, his obituary contained a list of services rendered during his life to his nation, state, parish and community which was long and impressive. It should be noted that no person could accomplish all that he did in life without the love and support of a good partner. Luella's greatest pride in life was taken in her children, grandchildren, and great grand children whose pictures decorated the kitchen of the house where she spent most of her life. Through her example, she gave her children a strong set of values, a good work ethic, and a sense of the value of family which is, in many ways, more important than material possessions. She was an excellent cook, a meticulous house keeper, a constant source of encouragement and support, and provided spiritual inspiration for her family throughout her life. She was a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and supporter of numerous charities and civic organizations too numerous to mention. She was a supporter of the Jeanerette Museum, and a Lifetime Member of the Jeanerette Landmark Society. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur, her father, Dozelia Hebert, her mother, Ledie Landry Hebert, her brother Ronald R. Hebert, Sr., and her daughter Barbara Ann Allain Fuhrer. She is survived by seven children: Wilbur L. Allain, Jr. and Lynn Lemieux Allain; Steven M. Allain, and his wife Tana; Raymond E. Allain, Sr. and his wife Rebecca; Mary Kay "Sue" Allain; Christopher J. Allain and his wife Tammy; Larry K. Allain and his wife Becky; and Dr. Gregory M. Allain and his wife Kerry. She is survived by 24 grandchildren: Monique Allain Meyer; Wilbur L. Allain, III; Raymond E. Allain, Jr.; Michelle Allain Domingue; Todd and Johnny Lancon; Ledie Allain Figard; Angie Lancon-Jensen; Virginia Allain delaConcha; Jennifer, Kristi, Jodi, Christopher, Terri, Dawson, Andre, Hannah, Eleanor, Mitchell, Andrew, Camille, Emily, Marie, and Martha Allain. She is also survived by her 15 great grand children, Bobby, Olivia, Dannon, Nicolas, Stoney, Hailey, Parker, Madison, Katie, Lauren, Madeline, Dayton, Grace, Emily Ann, and Emily Ruth. To our brother Dr. Greg Allain who snatched Mom from the jaws of death six years ago, and with the assistance of his wife Kerry and their five children brought Mom into their home, nursed her back to life, added six years to her time here on earth, and with love and enormous personal sacrifice gave all of us an opportunity to share that time with her; and to our sister Sue, who took care of Mom's personal needs, her computer records, day to day financial affairs, and every other little thing she needed; we owe you all more than we can ever repay, and extend to all of you our everlasting gratitude and respect. The family would like to thank Rena, Ella, Alberta, Josie, Joyce, Virginia and all the other care givers, whose loving care made the last years of her life a pleasant journey. And special thanks to her god-child Janice Hebert Mekash for tending to her spiritual and personal needs, and her husband Terry for always being there to brighten Mom's day. The family also wishes to thank Iggy and Hospice of Acadiana for their attention to her physical and emotional needs in the last few months of life and requests that any donations in her memory be directed to Hospice of Acadiana. Pallbearers will be her six sons: Wilbur, Steven, Raymond, Larry, Christopher, and Gregory Allain. Honorary Pallbears will be Bill Fuhrer, Todd Lancon, Johnny Lancon, Terry Mekash, and Ronald R. Hebert, Jr. David Funeral Home of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.
