LOVING HUSBAND, FATHER, GRANDFATHER, GREAT-GRANDFATHER, AND FRIEND TO ALL Loreauville"A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Roy John Freyou, 84, of Loreauville will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Reverend Mario Romero will serve as celebrant, and Reverend Paul Onuegbe and Reverend Aaron Melancon will serve as concelebrants. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be observed on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 from 2:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. A rosary will also be recited Wednesday at 9:30 AM by the Catholic Daughters of America. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home. Mr. Freyou passed away on Monday, May 14, 2007 at 1:20 A.M. in a New Iberia hospital. Affectionately known to many as Pa , Mr. Freyou was a native and lifelong resident of Iberia Parish. He served as a deputy for Iberia Parish Sheriffs Office, and retired as a fitter working in shipyard industries. A devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mr. Freyou faithfully served as a chapel adorer for many years. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, gardening, and raising farm animals. An accomplished woodworker, Mr. Freyou used cypress wood to craft rosaries for display and one-of-a-kind picture frames. He also enjoyed dancing and cooking, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and assisting others in need. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Emmadell Provost Freyou of Loreauville; daughter, Marian Freyou Fruge and husband, Jerry of Loreauville; granddaughters, Claire Fruge Richard and husband, Ryan of Loreauville and Sarah Fruge of Loreauville; daughter, Linda Freyou Trahan and former husband, Wayne of New Iberia; grandson, James Trahan and wife, Kristine Smith Trahan of New Iberia; great-granddaughters, Jenna and Emily Trahan of New Iberia; son, David Freyou of Commerce, GA; grandson, Stephen Freyou and wife, Tracey Ridriguez Freyou of Loreauville; great-granddaughters, Chelsie and Jeaneen Freyou of Loreauville; granddaughter, Christi Freyou Thibodaux and husband, Vincent of Baton Rouge; great-granddaughters, Caitlyn and Nicole Thibodaux of Baton Rouge; and brother, Whitney Freyou and wife, Katherine Fremin Freyou of New Iberia. Preceding Mr. Freyou in death were his parents, Simon and Anastasia Broussard Freyou; brothers, Leodias, Leodas, Robert, Sidney Doc , William, George, and Winnie Freyou; and sisters, Aussie F. Crochet, Noemie F. Buteaux, Leah Freyou, Eunice F. Romero, Stella F. Martin, Sophie F. Bonin, and Edelia F. Johnson. Serving as pallbearers are Jerry Fruge', Ryan Richard, Steve Freyou, James Trahan, Simon Freyou, and Lawrence Courville. Named as honorary pallbearers are Whitney Freyou, Christi Thibodaux, Claire Richard, Sarah Fruge', Chris Courville, Jed Courville, Wayne Trahan, Larry Verret, Leroy Benoit, Lane Blanchard, Ralph Provost, Ernest Freyou, Henry Martin, Michael Romero, Michael Romero, Jr., and Herman Walet.
