New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Kinta Hebert DeSoto, 78 on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 2:00 PM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Downs, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation will begin on Friday, July 6, 2007 at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 9:00 AM until services.

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. DeSoto died on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 8:00 AM in a New Iberia nursing home. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club in New Iberia. She assisted in teaching Sunday School in the childrens department, the girls auxillary and worked in VBS and AWANA at the First Baptist Church in New Iberia. She was a babysitter for family and friends for many years. She was an avid bird watcher, loved her flowers and walking in City Park.

She is survived by her son, Sonny R. DeSoto and his wife Linda of Murfreeboro, TN; her daughters, Lynn Mayo and her husband Canoy of West Monroe, Carrie Maxwell and her husband Michael of Brandon, MS and Vickie Martin and her husband Greg of New Iberia; her brothers, Harold Hebert of Scott, Roland and Arvers Hebert both of Loreauville; her sisters, Nina Derouen, Vivian Derouen, Stella Dore, Josie Nell Justilien and Beverly Louviere all of New Iberia. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Audy E. Sonny DeSoto and her parents, Joseph and Beulah Dartez Hebert.

Pallbearers will be Canoy Mayo, Greg Martin, Michael Maxwell, Christopher DeSoto, Quincy DeSoto and David Martin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Arvers Hebert, Harold Hebert, Roland Hebert, Jared Martin, Katherine M. Trickett and Therese M. Gordy.

David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
