LOVING HUSBAND, FATHER, AND GRANDFATHER
New Iberia"Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Adus Red Duhon, Sr., 78, will be held on Monday, June 11, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. in St. Marcellus Catholic Church, Rynella. Deacon Theo Landry will officiate. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum, New Iberia.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2007 from 4:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M., and will continue on Sunday from 8:00 A.M. until time of services on Monday in David Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited on Sunday at 6:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
Mr. Duhon passed away on Friday, June 08, 2007 at 2:45 P.M. in his Coteau residence.
A native of Rayne and longtime resident of the New Iberia area, Mr. Duhon was a member of the Catholic faith. He worked in the oilfield for many years, and worked extra jobs as a welder and fitter to provide for his family. He retired while building storage tanks. Mr. Duhon lived the Cajun lifestyle to the fullest. Hunting, fishing, crawfishing, gardening, and dancing to French music were his pastimes. Spending time with his family, though, was his greatest joy.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 50 years, Juanita Picard Duhon of Coteau; stepmother, Lydia Perez Duhon of Jeanerette; sons, Joseph A. Duhon, Jr. and companion, Rita Dore of New Iberia, Roland J. Duhon and wife, Wanda of New Iberia, David P. Duhon and companion, Tammy Romero of Coteau, and Mark A. Duhon, Sr. and wife, Melissa of Coteau; daughters, Diane Champagne of St. Martinville, Juanita Ransonet and husband, Edward of New Iberia, and Lisa Latiolais and husband, Frank of Coteau; sisters, Barbara Duhon and husband, Billy of Baldwin, Eva Duhon of Jeanerette, and Shirley Borel and husband, Marshall of Jeanerette; Godchildren, Raywood Buteaux and wife, Virginia of St. Martinville and Marie Derouen and husband, Charles of Jeanerette; 27 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Preceding Mr. Duhon in death were his parents, Ovey and Elnora Richard Duhon; brothers, Whitney, Woodley, and Eddie Duhon; sisters, Azema Buteaux, Nancy Trosclair, and Antoinette Perez; and son-in-law, Frank Champagne, Jr.
Serving as pallbearers are Joseph Duhon, Jr., Roland Duhon, David Duhon, Mark Duhon, Sr., Raywood Buteaux, and Frank Latiolais. Named as honorary pallbearers are Ryan Touchet, Craig Duhon, Chad Duhon, Heath Latiolais, Brock Maison, Micah Vernnard, and Dale Vernnard.
