View Video Tribute LOVING MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER New Iberia"A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Murphy Blanchard, the former Gloria Broussard, 78, will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. in St. Marcellus Catholic Church in Rynella. Reverend Donovan Labbe will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Marcellus Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 28, 2007 from 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home. Mrs. Blanchard passed away on Friday, May 25, 2007 at 4:30 A.M. in her New Iberia residence. A native of Avery Island and lifelong resident of the New Iberia area, Mrs. Blanchard was a member of the Catholic faith. She was a very kind and loving person who enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Mrs. Blanchard will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her sons, Michael Blanchard and wife, Gabrielle of New Iberia and Donald Blanchard and wife, Tanna of Sulphur; daughters, Cynthia Derouen and husband, David of Parker, CO and Linda Chestnut and husband, Jennings Chestnut, II (Jay) of Hartsville, SC. Mrs. Blanchard is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Preceding Mrs. Blanchard in death were her husband, Murphy Blanchard; parents, Eddy and Lillian LeBlanc Broussard; and a brother, Eddy E.J. Broussard. Serving as pallbearers are Jennings Jay Chestnut, II, Jennings Chestnut, III, Doug Derouen, Jarrod Chestnut, Zack Foti, Jacob Derouen, and Jason Derouen. David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
