Florella (Flo) Breaux Dartez
May 10, 1925 — December 30, 2008
New Iberia " Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Gus Dartez the former Florella Flo Breaux, Age 83, at 2:30PM Saturday January 3, 2009 at St. Peters Catholic with Father Charles Langlinais officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00AM until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed Saturday at 11:00AM.
She died Tuesday December 30, 2008 in a Lafayette health care facility.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia Flo was a devout Catholic who taught elementary catechism for 23 years. She is a member of the Lay Carmelites and had enjoyed leading the Rosary in church during lent.
Flo always liked keeping busy and thus had many hobbies throughout the years. She collected postage stamps and coins from around the world. She loved to read, take long walks, swing on her porch, shop but most of all Flo loved to dance!
Flo was a remarkable Mother and Grandmother, whose smile and energy will never be forgotten. Memories of her will always include her passion for life, her inner strength and her love for family.
Remaining to cherish Flos memory are her two daughters, Tonia Khosropour and her husband Farzin (Fozie) of Coteau, Linda Vanderbrook and her husband Joe of Silverton, Oregon, her daughter-in-law Amelie Duplantis Dartez of New Iberia; grandchildren, Tadj and Matthew Khosropour of New Iberia, Dr. John Young and his wife Kalen of Silveton, Oregon, Dr. Scott Young and his wife Nikki of Tampa, Florida and Stephanie and Zachary Dartez of New Iberia; one sister, Lucy Bayard of Loreauville and two brothers, James Breaux and J.C. Breaux III and wife Lucille of New Iberia.
Preceding Flo in death were her husband of 60 years, Gus Dartez, her two sons, Brian and Stephen Dartez and her parents Camille Lasseigne Breaux and J.C. Breaux Jr.
Flos family sincerely appreciates the excellent care and support that Dr. Angela Langlinais and her staff have given throughout the years. Dr. Langlinais early diagnosis and treatment of Flos Alzheimers disease allowed her to dance and enjoy life for many years.
In lieu of flowers, your prayers for Flo and her family would be greatly appreciated.
Pallbearers will be Farzin (Fozie) and Matthew Khosropour, Drake Thibodeaux, Zachary Dartez, Dr.s Scott and John Young
