New Iberia"A Mass of Christian Burial for Lonnie James Delcambre, 41, will be celebrated on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The Reverend Salvino Primor will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Broussard Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 11, 2007 from 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.

Mr. Delcambre passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 12:33 P.M. as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Jeanerette.

A lifelong resident of the New Iberia area, Mr. Delcambre was a member of the Catholic faith. He was owner and operator of Cajun Roofing. When not working, Mr. Delcambres favorite pastime was fishing. He was also an accomplished cook, having trained to be a chef.

Survivors include his sisters, Mary Linda Delcambre of New Iberia, Barbara Velazquez and husband, Frank of Lafayette, Brenda Bourque of New Iberia, Sandra Gaspard and husband, Warren of St. Martinville, Sally Delcambre of New Iberia, and Betty Hoxworth and husband, Scott of New Iberia; brothers, Minos Delcambre, Jr. of New Iberia and Timmy Delcambre, Sr. and wife, Bobbye of New Iberia; half-sister, Joann Forrester of Largo, FL; close friends, John Provost and Danny White; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Preceding Mr. Delcambre in death were his parents, Minos Delcambre, Sr. and Janet Baye Delcambre.

Serving as pallbearers are Adam Delcambre, James Gaspard, Ryan Gaspard, Jason Gaspard, Warren Gaspard, Jr., and Timmy Delcambre, Jr. Named as honorary pallbearers are Frank Velazquez, Shannon Delcambre, Minos Delcambre, III, and Scott Hoxworth.

The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the family to help defray the cost of Lonnies final expenses.

David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
