Lafayette- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Wilfred A. Romero will be held Monday, June 4, 2007 at 1:00PM at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, 201 East Bayou Pkwy, Lafayette, LA. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 03, 2007 at David Funeral Home of Lafayette, 316 Youngsville Hwy. from 4:00PM until 7:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 6:30PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, June 4, 2007 at 12:00AM at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at the family plot, St. Michaels Cemetery, St. Martinville, LA. Wilfred Anthony "Sonny" Romero passed away at Tulane University Hospital, New Orleans, LA. on Thursday, May 31, 2007. He was 77 years old. Mr. Romero dedicated his whole career to New York Life Insurance Company concentrating on agency development eventually becoming Regional Vice President for the Western United States. Mr. Romero had a passion for life and a love of people. He was a world class hunter, fisherman, art collector, author and past Baillis for the Chaine des Rotisseurs, Denver Chapter. He enjoyed residences in Reno, NV.; Denver, CO.; Lafayette, LA. and Protero Costa Rica. A beloved husband of Mary Jane Gates Romero of Lafayette, LA. Beloved father of Wilfred J. Romero of Chatham, NJ., William I. Romero of Denver, CO., Tara Romero Ellison of Denver, CO. and Leah Romero Green of San Jose, CA. Beloved grandfather of Dustin E. Alfortish of New Orleans, LA., Dione DAunoy Uht of San Jose, CA., April and Marion Ellison of Denver, CO. and Julia, James and Ben Romero of Chatham, NJ. Beloved great grandfather of Austin, Andrew and Aaron Uht of San Jose, CA. Beloved brother of Barbara R. LeLeux of New Iberia, LA. and Hedy R. Geer of Lafayette, LA. Beloved stepfather of Michelle Broadhurst Andrus and Alison Broadhurst Mouton of Lafayette, LA. Beloved step grandfather of Whitney, Tyler, Layne and Avery Andrus and Britney and William Mouton of Lafayette, LA. Preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Joan Fournet Romero formerly of St. Martinville, LA. and his parents, Noemie M. Prejean and Wiltz J. Romero of New Iberia, La. Serving as pallbearers will be Will Romero, Dustin Alfortish, Gary Green, Perry Sergura, Donald Bourque, Daily Bernard, Clem Corte, and Sidney Triche. Dr. Harold Jacobs will serve as honorary pallbearer.
