James Norman Gillis, Iii

Lafayette - James Norman Gillis, III (Jim/Jimmy), 48, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at his home. Jim was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, August 30, 1958, and moved to Lafayette in 1965. Graveside services will be held at the Macedonia-Hix Baptist Cemetery outside of Caldwell, Texas, at a later date. Survivors include his son, James Gillis, of Kalamazoo, Michigan; his sister, Leslie Smolik and husband Blain of Katy, Texas; his beloved niece and nephew, Laura and Ben Smolik of Katy, Texas; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jane and Jim Gillis. Honorary pallbearers are Scott Strentz, David Hicks, Kim Abels, Gary Taylor, Roger Gaskamp, and Ricky Mikulastik. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Community Baptist Church, 800 Rue De Belier, Lafayette, Louisiana, 70506. David Funeral Home of Lafayette will be handling the arrangements
