LOVING MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER, AND FRIEND

New Iberia"Funeral services for Mrs. Ridgeway A. Derouen, Sr., the former Winona Winnie Melancon, 70, will be conducted on Friday, June 8, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. in David Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Charles Langlois will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Marcellus Cemetery, Rynella.

Visiting hours will be observed on Thursday, June 7, 2007 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.

A native of St. Martinville and a longtime resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Derouen passed away on Wednesday, June 06, 2007 at 12:45 A.M. in a New Iberia hospital.

Mrs. Derouen worked for many years as an operator at Trappeys Foods until her retirement. She was a dedicated wife who cared for her husband until his death on Thanksgiving Day in 2006, and her family was the most important thing in her life.

Survivors include her sons, Ridgeway Derouen, Jr. and wife, Pamela of New Iberia, Macena Derouen of New Iberia, and Scotty Derouen of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; daughters, Joy Hernandez and husband, Randy of Youngsville, Donna Poirrier and husband, Drew of Hattiesburg, MS, and Misty Morgan and husband, Terrance of New Iberia; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way.

Preceding Mrs. Derouen in death were her husband, Ridgeway A. Derouen; parents, Macena and Marietta Thibodeaux Melancon; brothers, Huesville, Anthony, and Earl Melancon; and sisters, Lena Champagne, Josephine Baker, and Laura Chambers.

Serving as pallbearers are Ridgeway Derouen, Jr., Randy Hernandez, Terrance Morgan, Collin Burke, Royce Derouen, Robert Derouen, Drew Poirrier, Macena Derouen, and Jon Marsiglia.

David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
