Erath " A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Joseph Paul Pichot LeBlanc, 88 will be held on Monday, August 10, 2009 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Gale Nunez officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath on Sunday, August 9, 2009 beginning at 1:00PM until 8:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 6:00PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, August 10, 2009 from 8:00 AM until time of services. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum. A native and resident of Erath, Mr. LeBlanc died on Friday, August 7, 2009 at 4:34AM at Abbeville General Hospital. Mr. LeBlanc was the owner of LeBlancs Grocery; having opened it before WWII, served his country in the army, then returned and operated the store until the mid 1980s. His store was famous for having the first alert phones for the fire department in the area. As a WWII veteran, he fought under Gen. Patton at The Battle of The Bulge, earning him the title of a General Patton Survivor. He received the Purple Heart for his heroic actions. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, as well as the Erath American Legion. He enjoyed dancing and loved to work in his yard. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Pearl Bellaire LeBlanc of Erath; two sons, Randall J. LeBlanc and his wife Eugenia of Luling, and Michael P. LeBlanc and his wife Tina of Erath; a daughter Heddy L. Nunez and her husband Philip of Lafayette; a brother Harold LeBlanc of Erath; two sisters Melba Bill LeBlanc of Erath and Lona Faye Mavrinac of Erath; and his eight grandchildren, Chad LeBlanc, Shawn LeBlanc, Shamane Griffith, Charisse N. Campbell, Lance Nunez, Sam LeBlanc, Josh LeBlanc and Virginia LeBlanc; as well as twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Aristide LeBlanc and Olita Bergeron LeBlanc. Serving as pallbearers will be Lance Nunez, Shawn LeBlanc, Chad LeBlanc, Sam LeBlanc, Josh LeBlanc, Jason Campbell and Mack Griffith. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold LeBlanc and Leonard Mavrinac.
