Loreauville"A Mass of Christian Burial for Teresa Marie Walet, 93, will be celebrated on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Reverend Buddy Breaux will serve as celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2008 from 9:00 A.M. until service time in David Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. in the funeral home.

Miss Walet passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 3:45 P.M. in her Loreauville residence.

A native and lifelong resident of Iberia Parish and the Loreauville area, Miss Walet was a graduate of Loreauville High School. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. A talented artist, Miss Walet has many paintings displayed in the homes of friends and family. She enjoyed sewing and shopping, and she was a wonderful cook. Miss Walet was very well traveled, having visited France, Italy, Mexico, Canada, and many other locations throughout the United States and the world.

Though she never married and had children, Miss Walet was a mother to her nieces and nephews. Lovingly known as Nanny , she was always there when needed for a ride somewhere, to baby sit, or to attend a special event. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her nephews, Herman Walet and wife, Amaryllis, Pliny Walet, II and wife, Carolyn, all of Loreauville, Merlin Butsy Walet and wife, Marla of New Iberia, and Michael Spiess; nieces, Charlene Walet, Carolyn Walet, Kathleen Heitkamp and husband, Dr. Harold Heitkamp, Mary Ann Provost and husband, Clark, Deanna Gondron and husband, Alton, all of Loreauville, and Alice Marie Rosen and husband, Richard of New Orleans; and her children , Lawrie Walet Landry and husband Mike, Lanny Walet Begnaud and husband, Joey, Danny Walet and wife Christine, Beth Walet Boggs and husband, Paul, all of Loreauville, and Jill Walet Fontenot and husband, Lloyd of Delcambre.

Preceding Miss Walet in death were her parents, Pliny Walet, I and Delia Gonsoulin Walet; sisters, Stephanie Walet, Rita Walet, Lillian Walet, and Maude Spiess; and brothers, Merlin and Howard Walet.

Miss Walets family wishes to express their gratitude to everyone at Journey Hospice, as well as to Miss Walets caregivers, including Amaryllis Walet, Lanny Walet Begnaud, Nettie Courville, Gladys Charles, Gwen Anthony, Jackie Courville, and Geraldine Boutte.

Serving as pallbearers are Danny Walet, Ory Begnaud, Lloyd Fontenot, Shane Walet, Mike Landry, and Jed Begnaud.
