Tiptonville, TN"Funeral services for Mrs. John L. Norris, Jr., the former Elzie Gertrude Ashley, 90, will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in Tiptonville Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Tiptonville City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in Dyersburg Funeral Chapel, Tiptonville, TN, and will continue on Thursday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the Tiptonville Church of Christ. Mrs. Norris passed away on Monday, February 11, 2008 at 5:45 A.M. in a New Iberia, LA hospital. A native of Obion, TN, Mrs. Norris was a retired schoolteacher. She had lived with her son in New Iberia for a short time. A Christian woman, Mrs. Norris was a longtime member of Tiptonville Church of Christ. Survivors include her son, John L. Norris, III and wife, Frances of New Iberia; grandchildren, Mindy Dianne Norris of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, John L. Norris, IV of Baton Rouge, LA, and Luke C. Norris of New Iberia; brothers, Thomas Ashley of Humboldt, TN and George Ashley of Memphis, TN; and sisters, Emma Jean Norris of Tiptonville, TN and Linnie Dale Huff of Manassas, VA. Preceding her in death were her husband, John L. Norris, Jr.; parents, Alton E. and Bettie Tucker Ashley; son, Harry W. Norris; sisters, Elizabeth Burnett and Marjorie Garner; and brother, Raleigh Ashley. Serving as pallbearers are John L. Norris, IV, Luke C. Norris, Ashley Norris, George Norris, Johnny Barnes, and Tony White. David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of local arrangements.
