Jeanerette " Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Clarence Lemaire, 89, the former Elizabeth Banta on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Neel, Pastor of First Assembly of God Church, officiating. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery.

Visitation will begin on Monday, July 9, 2007 at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 8:00 AM until time of services.

Born on Oct. 11, 1917, Mrs. Lemaire died on Sunday, July 8, 2007 at 3:15 PM in a New Iberia hospital. She was a native of St. Mary Parish and a resident of Jeanerette. Elizabeth was very active in civic and social organizations in Jeanerette for many years. She founded the Altar Society of St. John the Evangelist Church, was a member of Clio Club, Jeanerette Garden Club and Entre Nous. In 1971 she was chosen Outstanding Citizen of Jeanerette.

Elizabeth served in various ministries at her church, First Assembly of God in New Iberia, for over 30 years. She provided sewing, cooking, arrangements, assisting with the Witness Musical and helping in childrens ministry. She also assisted with Chi Alpha ministry on the U.L. Campus.

Her service to her Savior was like that of Tabitha (Acts 9:36ff), a lady full of good works and charitable deeds which she did , sewing, knitting and cooking for others.

She is survived by her children, Elizabeth M. Muffoletto and her husband Walter of Portland, Texas, E. Lee McGee, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Jeanerette, Rufus C. Lemaire and his wife Nancy of Shreveport and Lonie L. Prentiss and her husband Armand of New Iberia.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lucia M. Verret, Rosemary Muffoletto, Amy McGee, Sean McGee, Monique M. Dumond, Cinnamon M. Beaugh, Lauren L. Lynch, Mark B. Lemaire, Grace E. Prentiss, Evan E. Prentiss, Anne K. Prentiss and David Prentiss. She has 10 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Lucia B. Banta; a brother, Rodney Banta; her first husband, Ernest Cotton McGee and her second husband, Clarence Lem Lemaire.

Pallbearers will be Sean McGee, Mark Lemaire, Walter Muffoletto, Armand Prentiss, Evan Prentiss and Ross Trahan.
