New Iberia"A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. George Sikes, the former Diane Derouen, 63, will be celebrated on Friday, January 18, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Serving as concelebrants are Father Mark Derise, Father Mike Guidry, and Father Salvino Primor. Serving as Deacon of the Mass is Deacon Jimmy Wilson. Musical selections being rendered by Mrs. Derouens brother, Minos Derouen, Jr., are Press On , I Can Only Imagine , I Want Jesus to Walk With Me , How Great Thou Art , Amazing Grace , and Remember Me . Entombment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2008 from 5:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary serving being conducted at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home. Mrs. Sikes passed away on Monday, January 14, 2008 in a New Iberia hospital. A native of Coteau and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Sikes was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, where she served as baptism coordinator. She was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and University of Southwestern Louisiana, and was a member of the Kappa Chapter of Beta Sigma Pi Sorority. Mrs. Sikes was transportation manager for Cargill Company, from which she retired after 30 years of service, and had been a customer service representative at Bruce Foods for eight years. She enjoyed her work, but her greatest joys were watching the deer at her familys Lookout Point farm near Winnsboro and caring for her children and granddaughter. Remaining to remember Mrs. Sikes are her husband, Deacon George Sikes of New Iberia; son, John Sikes and wife, Kristie of Baton Rouge; daughter, Ashley Marie Sikes of Lafayette; granddaughter, Ella Claire Sikes of Baton Rouge; sisters, Myrtis Quinilty of Lake Charles and Hilda Devillasana and husband, Chris of River Ridge; brother, Minos J. Joey Derouen, Jr. of New Iberia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceding Mrs. Sikes in death were her parents, Minos Joseph Derouen, Sr. and Deloria David Derouen; and a daughter, Stephanie Marie Sikes. Serving as pallbearers are Dennis Warnke, Roger Sonnier, Gene Chauffe, Matthew Derouen, Craig Quinilty, and Nanette Dartez. David Funeral Home of New Iberia, 1101 Trotter Street, 337-369-6336 is in charge of arrangements.
