New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Jackie Lee Toups, 69, Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 at 2:00 PM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Chris Doumit officiating.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and reopen on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2006 at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
A native of Vermilion Parish and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Toups died on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007 at 10:07 PM upon arrival at a Biloxi, MS hospital. He worked in the banking industry for over 30 years and retired from Mid-South Bank in 2003. He was a former member of the New Iberia Rotary Club and the French Optimist Club. He enjoyed life and his family. He also served in the US Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Pracilla Suire Toups of New Iberia; his daughter, Angie Medver and her husband Tommy Medver of Lydia, Terry Derouen of New Iberia and her special friend Kip Landry of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Tera Verret of Lydia, Jamie Marcel and her husband Marcus Marcel, Trent Derouen and his special someone Marcie Lemieux and Travis Derouen all of New Iberia; great grandchildren, Zackary Verret of Lydia, Evan Lee Marcel of New Iberia and Jackie was expecting his first great granddaughter, Ella McKeller Derouen in November. He is also survived by his brother, Glenn Toups and his wife JoAnn of Delcambre; nieces, Lisa T. Broussard and her husband Jed of Delcambre and Dodie Landry of Abbeville; nephews, Kenny Toups and his wife Vicki of Lafayette, Carl Toups and his wife Mica of Erath and Kevin Landry of Abbeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorfis and Laska Addison Toups; and his brothers, Kenneth and Carson Toups.
