Loreauville"Agnes Marie Hymel, the former Agnes Rousseau, beloved and devoted wife of Thomas Pierre Hymel, died at 12:07 P.M. on Sunday, September 2, 2007 at the age of 74. They were married for 56 years. Agnes was a native of Paincourtville, LA and a long time resident of Biloxi, MS. She died suddenly in peace following a brief illness. She and her husband spent the past two years living with family near Loreauville. Agnes was a career homemaker, active for many years as a volunteer for Catholic Social Services. She devoted much of her time to visiting and assisting the elderly and poor of her community. She also served as a VISTA volunteer, chaplains assistant, and Red Cross volunteer. She served as a Eucharistic minister, and she taught religion classes for many years. Agnes lived the life of an Air Force wife for 28 years, traveling and setting up home for her family in the Azores, Alaska, Philippine Islands, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi. She enjoyed reading and sewing. Agnes was most proud of her seven children, David of Olympia, WA, Thomas and wife Monica of Loreauville, Daniel and wife, Kim of Powhatan, VA, Robert and wife, Elizabeth of Poulsbo, WA, Claudia and husband, Dean Hughes of Biloxi, MS, James and wife, Lise of Ft. Worth, TX, and Camille and husband, Kurt of Crozet, VA; and 14 grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Thomas; her only sister, Evelyn Alleman and husband, Harding of Baton Rouge; her brothers, Eric of Paincourtville, Erwin of Kenner, and Steven and wife, Josephine of Donaldsonville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy J. and Agnes Lateet Rousseau of Paincourtville; and brothers, Roy Joseph of Belle Rose and Roger of St. James. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Reverend Mario Romero will serve as celebrant. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, 118 Main Street, Loreauville, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are David, Daniel, Robert, Thomas, James, and Harrison Hymel.
