Edith Sonnier

Abbeville- Edith Boutte Sonnier, 92, of Abbeville, passed away at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2007, at her residence in Abbeville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Fr. Mayne as the celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow in St. Anne Cemetery in Youngsville.

Born May 18, 1915, in Vermilion Parish, she was the daughter of Adonis and Avilda Viator Sonnier. Mrs. Sonnier was co-owner of Sonnier Grocery on La. 338 in Erath for more than 41 years. Mrs. Sonnier loved to garden and had a love of flowers. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her son, Roger Dale Sonnier and his wife, Sandra Richard Sonnier, of Erath; one daughter, Belva Jane Belle Vincent and her husband, Clarence, of Erath; two grandsons, Shannon Dale Sonnier and his wife, Karen Gunter Sonnier, of Erath, Brandon Scott Sonnier and his wife, Natalie Hollier Sonnier, of Erath; two great grandsons, Rhett and Seth Sonnier; three great-grand- daughters, Meredith Sonnier, Emma Sonnier and Molly Sonnier, of Erath.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ursin Sonnier; her parents; and one daughter Irna Dell Sonnier;two brothers,Etienne Boutte and Enole Boutte and one sister, Rita Arcenaux.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Sonnier, Brandon Sonnier, Rhett Sonnier, David Granger, Dallas Vincent and Ray Sonnier.

Family and friends will gather from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Visitation continues Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until services.
