New Iberia " A Gathering of the Family was held on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008 from 10:00 AM until 12 Noon at David Funeral Home for Mr. Alvin Fielding Guthrie, 89, who died on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008 at his residence.

A native of Mason City, NE and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Guthrie was a decorated veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a retired tubing engineer in the oil field industry.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Lucas Toni Guthrie ; his daughters, Maria Lisa Guthrie Duhon and her husband Kim and Irma Guthrie Clausen; his sons, Alvin Paul Guthrie and his wife Nina and Robert Steven Guthrie and his wife Kim; his grandchildren, Christan and Keefe Duhon all of New Iberia, Heather Theriot of Lafayette, Justin Theriot, Rylee Guthrie, Collyn and Cortlyn Guthrie, Tori and Taylor Rodriguez,; his great grandchildren, Chole Breaux, Kaden Kelly, Emma Theriot and Lexi Theriot all of New Iberia.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, Louis Rife Guthrie and Erma Fielding Guthrie; his brothers, Kenneth L. Guthrie and Clinton Rife Guthrie; four sisters, Atha May Wright, Janella Guthrie Strand, Geraldine Eloise Guthrie Funston and Helen Pauline Guthrie Ridge.

David Funeral Home of New Iberia, 1101 Trotter St. (337) 369-6336 is in charge of arrangements.
