Abbeville " A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Joseph Vice, the former Ophelia Lemaire, 74, will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Father Kenneth Mayne officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville beginning Friday, October 31, 2008 at 3:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM, the Funeral Home will remain open all night until the services on Saturday. Interment will follow at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery.
Mrs. Vice, a native of Forked Island and resident of Abbeville died at 10:30 PM on October 30, 2008 at Vermilion Healthcare Center of Kaplan. Mrs. Vice was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved people and enjoyed playing bingo.
She is survived by her daughter, Elaine S. Doucet and her husband Jessie of Abbeville; one sister, Mae Fornols of Erath; three grandchildren, Cecilia Goodwin and her husband Mark, Jodi Doucet and her fiance Carl Smith, and Corey Doucet and his wife Deidra; and eight great-grandchildren, Hailey and Alexis Lowery, Justin Goodwin, Darian, Caden, and Jacob Doucet, and Jeree and Justin Guidry.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph E. Vice; her parents Avelia Bill and Cecile Touchet Lemaire; one brother Jay Lemaire; three sisters, Sara Nunez, Irene Lemaire, and Lorena Romero.
Serving as pallbearers will be Corey Doucet, Mark Goodwin, Jacob Doucet, Pete Fornols, Tommy Fornols and Carl Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Hailey Lowery, Alexis Lowery, Justin Goodwin, Darian Doucet, and Caden Doucet.
David Funeral Home of Abbeville, 2600 Charity Street, (337) 893-3777, will be handling the arrangements.
