Erath- A Mass of Christian Burial for Dr. Albert Burleigh Sonnier, Sr., 84, will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church with Fr. Wayne Duet officiating. Visitation will begin on Friday, November 23, 2007 from 2:00PM until 8:00PM, with a recitation of the rosary at 6:00PM, and will resume on Saturday, November 24, 2007 from 8:00AM until time of service. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
Dr. Sonnier, a native of Erath and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at a Baton Rouge nursing home. He loved hunting and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Board Certified Member of the Academy of Family Physicians, American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars, American Medical Association, and practiced family medicine for 42 years in Erath.
He is survived by his wife, Florence LeBlanc Sonnier; a daughter, Lisa Landry and her husband Glen; two grandchildren, Leslie Landry Babin and her husband Kenneth and Lauren Landry; four great grandchildren, Hannah Babin, Sarah Babin, Rebecca Babin and Luke Babin, all of Baton Rouge; a sister, Doris Duhon of Abbeville; and two nephews, Phil Duhon of Abbeville and Dr. Neal Duhon of Rayne.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fenilouis Sonnier and Rita Landry Sonnier; a son, Albert Burleigh Sonnier, Jr.; and a nephew, Gaylan Duhon.
Pallbearers will be Phil Duhon, Jason Duhon, Mathew Duhon, Jude Duhon, Paul Wiggins and Michael LeBlanc.
