New Iberia"A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Alton Broussard, 86, will be celebrated on Monday, November 26, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on the Teche. The Reverend Steve LeBlanc will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2007 from 2:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.
Mr. Broussard passed away on Friday, November 23, 2007 at 8:00 A.M. in his sons Lafayette residence.
A native of Abbeville and longtime New Iberia resident, Mr. Broussard worked for many years as a carpenter as a member of Carpenters Local #1897. One of his final jobs, of which he was very proud, was as construction supervisor of the clubhouse at LeTriomphe. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Mr. Broussard was a loyal member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on the Teche.
Survivors include his sons, Larry James Broussard and wife, Diane of Magnolia, TX and Terry Wayne Broussard and wife, Cathy of Lafayette; daughter, Connie Broussard Comeaux and husband, Audie of New Iberia; grandchildren, Shane Michael Broussard and Sherise Davila, both of San Antonio, TX, Scott Broussard and wife, Monica, Shannon Lynd and husband, Kirk, and Allison Alesi and husband, Mari, all of Lafayette, and Alaina Rene Comeaux and Cameron Matthew Comeaux, both of New Iberia; great-grandchildren, Peyton Rae Davila, Hunter Chisholm, and Kyler Michael Davila, all of San Antonio, TX, and Jacab Gibson, Mason Taylor Broussard, Elliott Broussard Lynd, Jackson Kirkpatrick Lynd, and Sophia Rose Alesi, all of Lafayette; brother, Isaac Broussard and wife, Anna Mae of Abbeville; sister, Alta Touchet of Abbeville; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding Mr. Broussard in death were his wife, Delores Bourque Broussard; parents, Noah and Edna Trahan Broussard; daughter, Donna Gail Broussard; and sisters, Hortense Bertrand, Alice Boudreaux, and Anna Hunt.
Serving as pallbearers are Scott Broussard, Shane Broussard, Mari Alesi, Kirk Lynd, Mason Broussard, Jacab Gibson, Cameron Comeaux, and Audie Comeaux.
David Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
