New Iberia"Funeral services for Mrs. Paul L. Viator, the former Noema (Norma) Viator, 89, will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. in David Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Barry Crochet will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 from 3:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a wake service to be conducted at 6:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.
Mrs. Viator passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 11:42 A.M. in a New Iberia hospital.
A lifelong resident of Iberia Parish, Mrs. Viator had lived in Abbeville for a short time prior to her passing. She was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau. Lovingly known to all as Maw-Maw , Mrs. Viator had cared for many children throughout her life. Her hobbies included playing cards, going to the casino, and traveling, but her greatest joy was being with and caring for her family.
Survivors include her son, Harold P. Viator and wife, Juliette of New Iberia; daughter-in-law, Ruth Viator of New Iberia; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Mrs. Viator in death were her husband, Paul L. Viator; parents, Louis Davizean Viator, Jr. and Noelie Reaux Viator; son, Jeffery J. Viator; brothers, Harry Viator, Harrison Viator, and Davis Viator; three sisters; and three brothers.
Serving as pallbearers are Jeffery Viator, Tammy Romero, Susan LeBlanc, Shelia Pekinpaugh, Jessica Blaze, Amy Hebert, and Hunter Viator. Named as honorary pallbearers are Robin Martinez, Andrew Viator, Joshua Speer, Taylor Blaze, Anthony Poirier, Blake Hebert, Torrey Blaze, and Joshua Girouard.
David Funeral Home of New Iberia, 1101 Trotter Street, 369-6336, is in charge of arrangements.
