New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Alex J. Broussard, age 81, on Friday, Apr. 4, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Mark Derise officiating. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery in Patoutville.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, Apr. 3, 2008 at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Friday, Apr. 4, 2008 at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Thursday at 6:30 PM.
A native of Iberia Parish and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Broussard died on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 12:30 AM at his residence. He served in the Louisiana National Guard 256 Infantry in Jeanerette, was a former member of the Crawfish Association and the Knights of Columbus Council 1425 in Jeanerette and a member of the Louisiana Farm Bureau. Prior to retirement for many years he was a Sugar Cane Farmer and a Crawfish Farmer. He loved fishing, hunting, cutting grass and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Broussard Broussard of New Iberia; his son, Michael P. Broussard and his wife Pat of Coteau; his daughter, Sandra Ann Broussard Osborne of Plano, TX; his grandchildren, Chris and Brent Broussard both of Coteau, Leah Broussard of Broussard, Shelly Broussard of Gilmer, TX, Janine Thibodeaux Hanson and her husband John of Fredericksburg, VA, Jared and Jacob Thibodeaux both of Plano, TX; his great grandchildren, Tate Froisy of Broussard, Mattie, Lauren and Catherine Rose Hanson all of Fredericksburg, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allison Broussard and Ezilda LeBlanc Broussard; his brother, Luke Broussard and his sister, Wilda Broussard Moran.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
