New Iberia " Funeral Services will be conducted for Dorothy Dot Carrier Schexnayder Bertrand, age 84, at 11:00AM Wednesday December 12, 2007 at David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Leleux officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday December 11, 2007 from 5:00PM until 9:00PM and again Wednesday from 8:00AM until service time.
Miss B as she was affectionately called by her staff was a native of Port Arthur, Texas and a resident of New Iberia most of her life. She was lovingly called Honey by her grandchildren. She was currently a supervisor and had been with the Smile Community Action Agency with the Headstart Program for 40 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She graduated from USL when she was 48 years old. She was a member of The Glorious Church. She always enjoyed being with her family.
Survivors include two daughters; Rev. Stephanie S. Leleux and husband Rev. Kenneth Leleux of New Iberia and Jan S. Courville and husband Timothy of Lafayette, one son; Brian Schexnayder and wife Sherri of Allen, Texas, grandchildren; Jonathon Bowen, Brady Bowen, Amber Daspit, Brian Leleux, Aubrey Dooley and Laura Reaux all of Lafayette, Sean Bowen of Pineville, Autumn Pole of Indianapolis, Indiana, Marcus Leleux of London, England, Joel Leleux of New Iberia and Alex and Skylar Schexnayder of Allen, Texas, great grandchildren; Colleen, Cameron and Caroline Bowen, Isabella Daspit, Felicia Daspit George, Justus Daspit, Ashton Dooley, Elexa Dooley, Camden, Ella and Maya Reaux and Hannah Leleux all of Lafayette, Taylor and Avery Bowen of Pineville, Julia Pole of Indianapolis, Indiana and Jacques Leleux of London, England, one great-great grandchild; Ava Grace George of Lafayette and another daughter-in-law; Rena Schexnayder of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her first husband; Leonard Schexnayder, second husband; Herbert H. Bertrand Sr., children; Pamela Ann and Daniel Cary Schexnayder, parents; Clifford J. and Lula Mae Rodrigue Carrier and two sisters; Lois Courville Neal and Catherine Carrier.
Pallbearers will be Jonathon Paul Bowen, Brady S. Bowen, Mitchell Jude Daspit, Rene Courville, Kenneth Courville and Alan Woodle. Honorary pallbearers will be Timothy Courville and Joel Leleux.
