Erath - Funeral Services for Walter "Sonny" Joseph Bourgeois, Jr., 69, will be held at 4:30PM on Friday, February 8, 2008 at the David Funeral Home Chapel of Erath with Fr. Wayne Duet officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath begin at 10:00AM until 10:00PM on Friday, February 8, 2008 with a recitation of the rosary at 11:00AM. Mr. Bourgeois a native of Jeanerette and a resident of Abbeville died at 3:26AM on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He served his country in the U.S. Navy; retired from Ebasco Service Incorporation after over 20 years of service; and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Dingler Bourgeois of Abbeville; two sons, Joseph John Bourgeois, and Michael Christopher Bourgeois both of Marrero; a daughter, Lisa Marie Bourgeois of New Orleans; six grandchildren, Johnathan Bourgeois, Caitlyn Bourgeois, and Aimee Lynn Bourgeois all of Marrero, Coral Bourgeois, Antonio Bourgeois, and Ivorie Bourgeois all of New Orleans, and a sister, Donna B. Reaux of Erath. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter J. Bourgeois, Sr. and Ezar Broussard Bourgeois; and two sisters, El Marie Romero and Sylvia B. Frederick.
