Abbeville - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Luther G. Suire, the former Mrs. Lucille Gastinel,76, will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 2:00PM with Fr. Greg Chauvin officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville, on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 begining at 11:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM and will resume on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 begining at 9:00AM until the time of services. Internment will be held St. Paul Cemetery. A native and resident of Abbeville, Mrs. Suire passed away on Monday, June 16, 2008, at 3:15AM at her residence after an extended illness. Mrs. Suire attended SLI, majoring in Music and Art, which she enjoyed her entire life. She worked many years at Riviana Foods Corporate office in Abbeville before opening her own business: Abbeville Laminating Shop. Lucille was a member of the Lady Carmelites, served in the Knights of Columbus Women's Auxilary and was selected "Lady of the Year" in 1974. She and her husband were State Officers for the Louisiana Square Dance Association, where she served as State Membership Chairmen for several years. Lucille was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a love for life, music, art, square dancing, and camping; she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Suire is survived by her husband of 57 years, Luther G. Suire; son, Christopher Suire and his wife Connie of Abbeville; two daughters, Donna Suire-Brown and her husband Stanford of Youngsville, and Nicole L. Suire of Houston, TX; granddaughter, Erica Ottmers-Pitman of Crosby,TX; grandson, Carson Suire of Abbeville; and brother, Dr. Victor Gastinel Jr. of Baton Rouge. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Victor Gastinel Sr. and the fromer Blanche Bienvenu; brother Wilbert "Bill" Gastinel; and daughter, Lydia Suire-Ottmers. Serving as pallbearers will be Rixby Marceaux Jr., Dr. Philip Gastinel, Buck Gastinel, Alan Hill, Glenn Suire and Stan Brown.
