New Iberia " Memorial services will be conducted for Mr. Joseph Warren Jefferson, 89, on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007 at 12:00 PM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Ed Degeyter officiating. Visitation will begin on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007 at 9:00 AM until services. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Jefferson died on Monday, Sept. 24, 2007 at 1:00 PM in a New Iberia hospital. He was the retired owner of Loxco, an Oil Exploration company. Mr. Jefferson served on the Board of Directors of State National Bank, Peoples National Bank, Iberia Savings and Loan and B. F. Trappey & Sons and served on the New Iberia Civil Service Commission and was a former member of the Iberia Golf and Country Club. He also served in the United States Transportation Corps. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Berard Jefferson of New Iberia; his son, Joseph Anthony Jefferson and his wife Katie of Pas Christian, MS; his nephew, Charles Bender Jefferson of New Iberia; his nieces, Elizabeth Cross of Lafayette, Catherine Bernal of West Monroe and Gwendolyn Vetsch of Monroe and his granddaughter, Betty Grace Jefferson of Pas Christian, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Jefferson and Gertrude Bonin Jefferson; and his brother, Charles Jefferson.
