Abbeville " A Mass of Christian Burial for Gideon Blake Broussard, 23 will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Fr. Kenneth Mayne officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 from 5:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
Gideon a native and resident of Abbeville died on Friday, August 8, 2008 at his residence. He worked as a welder and shoeing horses, and was known for his love of working with horses and hanging out with friends. He was a graduate of Abbeville High School and Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School.
He is survived by his parents, Mark G. Broussard and Roslyn Mergist Broussard of Abbeville; a brother, Tucker Broussard of Abbeville; his paternal grandparents, Calvin Fabian Broussard and Velma Ann Broussard of Scott; his maternal grandparents, Adam Benny Mergist and Dot Duhon Mergist of Erath; and a nephew, Camden.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tucker Broussard, Jed Milliman, Peter Menard, James LeBlanc, Patrick Chauvin, and Wesley Broussard. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Josh Deweese.
David Funeral Home of Abbeville at 2600 charity St. (337) 893-3777 will be handling the arrangements.
