Jeanerette " Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Millard M. Mike Mannina, 83 on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 1982 of New Iberia.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 20, 2007 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and resume on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM. A rosary will be prayed at the funeral home on Friday at 6:30 PM.
A native and lifelong resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Mannina died on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at 10:25 AM in a New Iberia hospital. Mr. Mannina was a graduate of SLI and served in the US Air Force during World War II, was a member of the American Legion Post 26, a member and Past Commander of V.F.W. Post 8150, the 50 Plus Club, Retired Teachers Association, a member and Past President of the Jeanerette Kiwanis Club, a member and Past President of the Jeanerette Rotary Club, served as a School Board Member of the Iberia Parish School Board for 24 years having served on the Building and Finance Committees and was named Outstanding Citizen in Jeanerette. He was active in the Boy Scouts, helped serve on the committee to build the first swimming pool in Jeanerette, was the first board member of the 8th Ward Recreation Building, served as Chairman of the Board for the Airport Commission in Jeanerette, he served on the Cypermort Point Beach Committee, Council on Aging Board and was a Past President of the Woodmen of the World. He also served as the Chairman of the Veterans Board and Chairman for the first Agriculture Parade in Jeanerette. He was also a past member of the Crew of Andalusia, Past President of the New Iberia Boat Club and a Past President of the Bonne Annee.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Lou Schexnayder Mannina of Jeanerette; his children, Michael Steve Mannina and his wife Roxanne, David Paul Mannina and his wife Yvonne, Mrs. David (Carrie) Allain all of Jeanerette, John Mannina and his wife Kathy, Richard Dickie Mannina and his wife Libby, Robert Patrick Mannina and his wife Maria, Mrs. Wayne (Leslie) Faucheaux all of New Iberia, Mrs. Anthony (Joan) Colletti, Sr. of Friendswood, TX and Mrs. Dale (Mary) Ducote of Lafayette; and his sister, Mrs. Paul (Lorraine) Gilmore of Baton Rouge. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael M. and Carrie J. Miller Mannina and two grandchildren, Erika Ayne Mannina and Marie Louise Allain.
Pallbearers will be his sons, Michael S. Mannina, David P. Mannina, John M. Mannina, Richard D. Mannina, Robert P. Mannina and his oldest grandson, Brian L. Faucheaux.
David Funeral Home of Jeanerette is in charge of arrangements.
