Jeanerette " Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Joseph Oswald Broussard, Sr., Age 90, at 3:00 PM Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Ed. Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery with military graveside services by VFW Post #1982. Visitation will be Monday, August 17, 2009 from 11:00 AM until 10:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume Tuesday, August 18, 2009 from 8:00 AM until service time. A native of St. Martinville and a resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Broussard died on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at 12:05 PM in a Lafayette health care facility. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council of Jeanerette, served in WW IIin the US Navy. He retired from Texaco after 38 years of service. Mr. Broussard loved to make homemade cane syrup and he loved working with his cattle. His greatest passion was his faith. Survivors include his children, Patricia LaCour and her husband James of New Iberia, Margaret Laughlin and her husband David of Bay Town, Texas, Theresa LaCour and Fiancee Sidney Hebert of Lafayette, Linda Broussard of New Iberia, Gene Broussard,Sr. and his wife Barbara of Jeanerette, Joseph Joe Broussard, Jr. and his wife Joyce of Jeanerette, James Broussard and his wife Janice of St. Martinville, Charles Broussard and his wife Janice of Jeanerette, Wayne Broussard of Jeanerette, David Broussard and his wife Tina of New Iberia and his sister, Marine Dodson of Jeanerette. He was also survived by 48 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Aucoin Broussard; his daughter, Dorothy Robin Weber; his parents, Joseph Broussard and Adolcian Trosclaire Broussard and his sisters, Carrie Degetaire and Ruby Broussard. Pallbearers will be David Broussard, Joseph Broussard, Jr., Gene Paul Broussard, Jr., Charles Broussard, Ron LaCour and Zed LaCour. Honorary pallbearer will be John Moonie Aucoin.
