Lafayette " Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Lafayette for Mrs. Olive Byrd LeBlanc, age 82, on December 20, 2007 at 3:00PM with Rev. Perry Sanders and Rev. Steve Horn officiating. Visitation will be held in David Funeral Home of Lafayette, on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM and will resume on Thursday, December 20, 2007 from 1:00PM until service time, at 3:00PM at First Baptist Church. Internment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. . A native and resident of Lafayette, Olive passed away on December 17, 2007 at 12:50PM at Lafayette General Medical Center. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and family woman.
Olive Byrd LeBlanc loved God and her church. At the age of 11, Olive accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her 72 years of church membership at First Baptist made her the member with the longest continuous service. She was a good Christian model. She was devoted to her Sunday school class, her bible study and her Tuesday prayer hour, where she was a Prayer Warrior. Olive gave a good example of what Christianity looks like. She lived her life by Philippians 4:13, I can do all things in Him who strengthens me.
She is survived by her children; Anita Burkenstock of Lafayette, Daniel LeBlanc and his wife Jennifer of Lafayette, Laura Haynes of Largo, Florida, Frank LeBlanc and his wife Dana of Blanco, Texas and Charles LeBlanc and his wife Evelyn of Lafayette; her siblings, Rose Richard of Plano, Texas, Joyce Latiolais of Lafayette, Robert Byrd and his wife Beverly of Lafayette: grandchildren, Harold Burkenstock, Andrea Burkenstock- Bourque, John and Martin Arceneaux, Rachel and Lana Haynes, Morgan and Mason LeBlanc, Olivia and Chloe LeBlanc; great-grandchildren, Aurora Haynes, Alec Arceneaux and Dylan Pride
She is preceded in death by her husband Francis Sonny LeBlanc; her parents, George and Louise Byrd; her siblings, a step-sister Effie Beadle, Alfred Byrd, Edith Short, Sadie Tanner and Ruth Sommers; her son-in-law Weston Haynes and her grandchild Gabriel Mills LeBlanc.
Pallbearers will be Daniel LeBlanc, Frank LeBlanc, Charles LeBlanc, Harold Burkenstock, Richard Latiolais and Seth M. Bourque. Honorary Pallbearers will include Robert Byrd, Sr., Martin Arceneaux, John Arceneaux and Mason H.H. LeBlanc.
A special thank-you is extended to Dr. Deborah Johnson and Lafayette General Medical Center, especially the 6th and 8th floor nurses and staff.
David Funeral Home of Lafayette will be handling the arrangements.
