Gertrude Jones Thompson

Trudy was born December 12, 1923 in Kincaid, West Virginia. She was a graduate of Montgomery High School and New River College (WV Tech) in Montgomery. After graduation she worked for Carnegie Illinois Steel in South Charleston, and E.I. DuPont at Belle, West Virginia. She and her husband, Carl J. Thompson, lived in many locations until his retirement. She was a dedicated housewife who enjoyed baking, painting, visiting with friends at the Camelot Assisted Living facility, where she resided, and her church family at Grace Presbyterian Church.

Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, O.H. and Grace Jones of Kincaid, WV and her husband of 52 years, Carl J. Thompson. Also preceding her in death were her seven siblings, Thelma, Sylvia, Virgie, Lora, Vivian, Orpha, and Marvin.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Steve Sanders and the joy of her life, grandson, Andrew Sanders all of Lafayette, LA. She will be deeply missed by family members: Opal T. Scherrep of St. Albans, WV, Chloriene T. Stiefel of Aiken, S.C. and Gene and Judi Thompson of St. Albans, WV. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews that cared for her dearly.

Services will be held Tuesday evening, October 28 at the David Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors between 5:30PM and 6:30PM. The memorial service will begin at 6:30PM with Pastor John Wamsley of Grace Presbyterian Church officiating.

Interment will be at a later date at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, West Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana, Grace Presbyterian Church or to a charity of choice.
