LOVING FATHER, GRANDFATHER, AND GREAT-GRANDFATHER Jeanerette"A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Willard Peter Whitey Hebert, 89, will be celebrated on Monday, March 31, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Reverend Ed Degeyter will serve as celebrant. Entombment with military honors rendered by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1982 will follow in Beau Pre Memorial Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2008 from 10:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home. Mr. Hebert passed away on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 2:27 A.M. in his Jeanerette residence. A native and lifelong resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Hebert, known as Whitey to all who knew and loved him, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was among the brave men who landed at Normandy on D-Day, and was wounded as United States forces advanced on Germany during the Battle of the Bulge. The Purple Heart medal he received bears witness to the three days he struggled through the snow to find help after being wounded. After recovering from his wounds in England, Mr. Hebert returned to Jeanerette, where he was very involved in helping his community in every way possible. He served on the board of Ward 8 Recreation Center, and was named Jeanerette Chamber of Commerces Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year in 1992. A faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Mr. Hebert served as an usher there for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8150, where he served as Post Commander. Mr. Hebert was a car salesman for many years, having worked for New Iberia Auto Company, McMahon-Musson, Musson-Patout, and Lapeyrouse Motor Companies. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger days, but his greatest joy has always been being with and caring for his family. He loved and was loved by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his daughters, Arleen H. Guillot and husband, Millard, Sr. of New Iberia, Mozell H. Fletcher of Jeanerette, and Cynthia H. Darcey and husband, Byron, Sr. of New Iberia; brother, Marvin Ga Hebert and wife, Bertha of Jeanerette; sister, Royce Landry and husband, Allen of DeQuincy; grandchildren, Millard J. Guillot, Jr. and wife Penny of Jeanerette, Willard A. Guillot and companion, Randy David of Opelousas, Dawn G. Bellamy and husband, Jeff of Alpharetta, GA, Tammy G. Guidry and husband, Trent of Maurice, Craig Fletcher and wife, Beth of Southhaven, MS, Bryan Fletcher and wife, Tonya of Ball, Ray B. J.R. Fletcher, Jr. and companion, Michael Duvic of Austin, TX, and Byron B.J. Darcey, Jr. and wife, Dee of Loreauville; great-grandchildren, Millard J. Guillot, III of Bayou Vista, Kayla Marie Guillot of Jeanerette, J. Taylor Bellamy of Alpharetta, GA, Rylan James Guidry of Maurice, Ashley Ann Guidry of Maurice, Faith Fletcher of Ball, Chelsea Fletcher of Ball, Cheyenne Fletcher of Pineville, Kayleigh Michelle Darcey of Loreauville, Caitlin E. Mouton of Loreauville, and Christopher P. Mouton of Loreauville; companion, caregiver, and close friend, Leona Thibodeaux of Jeanerette; sister-in-law, Dolly G. Landry of Jeanerette, and close friend, Rena Mae Mama Rena Fiest of Jeanerette. Preceding Mr. Hebert in death were his wife, Mildred Bonin Hebert; parents, Whitney and Valarie Savoy Hebert; brothers, Edwin Hebert and Elwood Gerrald Hebert, Sr.; son-in-law, Ray B.
