Loving Father and Grandfather

New Iberia"A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Robert Joseph Bobby LeLeux, 72, will be celebrated on Friday, May 23, 2008 at 2:30 P.M. in St. Peter Catholic Church. The Reverend Charles Langlois will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2008 from 3:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.

Mr. LeLeux passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 9:25 A.M. in his New Iberia residence.

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. LeLeux was a pharmaceutical sales representative, having retired from Estorge Drug Company with 25 years service, and then working for Morris and Dickson Pharmaceuticals for 13 years.

A faithful member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Mr. LeLeux served there as an usher for the Saturday 5:00 P.M. mass. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 3425.

Mr. LeLeux played baseball at New Iberia Senior High, and was offered a baseball scholarship to Northeastern Louisiana University, but had to decline due to injury. He was a batboy for the New Iberia Pelicans, and his love for the game carried over throughout his life. He was a 2006 inductee into the New Iberia Recreation Department Hall of Fame, having played in their softball leagues for many years. Some of the teams he played for throughout the years were City Barn, Acadianna Pontiac, Estroge Drug Company, Hulin Metals, Patins, Sugarland Farms, and Morton Salt. While playing in the 65-and-Over League, Mr. LeLeux played for Hardy Floors and Francis Drilling.

As much as he loved playing ball, Mr. LeLeux loved his family even more. His greatest joy was being with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughters, Tina L. Boudreaux and husband, Emile of New Iberia and Monique L. Shaubert and husband, Dean of Loreauville; son, Keith LeLeux and wife, Nora of Youngsville; brother, Emel Collins, Jr. and wife Ruth of New Iberia; special friend, Gloria Morvant of New Iberia; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Mr. LeLeux in death were his wife, Elizabeth Duhon LeLeux; parents, Neles LeLeux and Marie Segura Collins; and granddaughter, Misty Desormeaux.

Serving as pallbearers are Ted Carmichael, Eddie Melancon, Sam Balestros, Robert Chacherie, Sam Spitale, and Julian Butaud. Named as honorary pallbearers are Terry Fox, J.J. Bernice, John Jolet, Ron Piontiek, Donald Segura, Voorhies Begnaud, Jean Babineaux, and Albert Prejean.
