Loreauville " Funeral services will be conducted for Gerald Joseph Jay Gonsoulin, 65, on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by V.F.W. Post 1982 of New Iberia.

Visitation will begin on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM and re-open on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 9:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Friday evening at 7:00 PM.

A native and resident of Loreauville, Mr. Gonsoulin died on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 8:50 PM in a New Iberia hospital. He retired as a Superintendent with Universal Fabricators. He loved spending time with his family and supported the Loreauville High School Football Team. He also served in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Vaughn Gonsoulin; his daughters, Misty G. Sonnier and her husband Sandy and Kelly G. Bernard and her husband Ryan; his son, Bill J. Gonsoulin; his grandchildren, Ambre, Taylor, Britt and Dale Sonnier, Mathew and Zach Bernard all of Loreauville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie J. Gonsoulin and Irene Decourt Gonsoulin.

Pallbearers will be Sandy Sonnier, Ryan Bernard, C. J. Warfel, Shane Walker, Britt Sonnier and Jimmy LeBlanc.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Fremin, Dale Sonnier, Mathew Bernard, Shawn Touchet, Travis Meyers, Pete Taylor and Roland Touchet.
