Erath " A Mass of Christian Burial for Leonard Giardelli, Sr., 66, will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, April 7, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Wayne Duet officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath Beginning Sunday, April 6, 2008 from 10:00AM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, April 7, 2008 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum.

Mr. Giardelli a native of New Orleans and a resident of Abbeville died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 in Largo, FL. He was known for his skill in training race horses. He traveled and worked all over the country working with race horses. He trained the winner of the Louisiana and Arkansas derby, Crypto Star, who also ran in the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes.

He is Survived by his former spouse and best friend, Beverly Trahan Giardelli of Abbeville; three sons, Kenneth Giardelli of Covington, Leonard Giardelli, Jr. of Abbeville, and Clint Roy of Abbeville; three daughters, Dianna Pappas of New Orleans, Cindy Giardelli of New Orleans, and Christina Williams of Covington; a brother, Michael Giardelli of Covington; a sister, Rosalia Shank of Hagerstown, IN; fifteen grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mickey and Pauline Collins Giardelli; and a brother, Martin Giardelli.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Giardelli, Anthony Giardelli, Justin Horner, Brody Trahan, Jonathan Harrington, Shannon Luquette, and Brad Ledet.
