New Iberia- Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Alton F. Huval, age 72, Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 4:00PM at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with Fr. Barry Crochet and Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 15, 2009 from 4:00PM until 10:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 6:30PM.
Visitation will resume Wednesday, September 16, 2009 from 9:00AM until service.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Huval passed away Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 8:30AM in a New Iberia hospital.
Mr. Huval was a member of the National Guard #156 for 10 years, the K.C. Council #5111of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church and Our Lady of Prompt Succor Holy Name Society. He helped organize Family Night, Coteau Little League and Cajun Little League. Mr. Huval was an Iberia Parish School Board Member, District #14, serving the Coteau and Delcambre communities for 17 years and was a founding member of
Coteau Water System; serving as president for 37 years. Mr. Huval worked with Cleco for 21 years, was owner of Alton Huval Electric for 21 years and worked with the City of New Iberia as electrical inspector for8 years.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Shirley Vincent Huval of Coteau; his mother, Rena Dore Huval of Coteau; sons, Kent Louis Huval and wife Charlotte of Lafayette; and Kirk Francis Huval and wife Christina of Lafayette; daughters, Kim Huval Guidry and husband David of Coteau; Karen Ann Huval of Jersey City, New Jersey; Kathy Ann Huval of Houston, Texas; Kay Marie Huval of Lafayette; and Kristi Marie Huval of Lafayette; sisters, Betty Huval Westbrook and husband Carroll of Lafayette; and Patsy Huval Broussard and husband Ronald of Maurice; and grandchildren, Mason Paul Hebert, Emily Morgan Hebert and Avery James Guidry.
Mr. Huval was preceded in death by his father, Noy Paul Huval; paternal grandparents, Necess and Amelia Huval and maternal grandparents, John and Marie Pellerin Dore.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kent Huval, Kirk Huval, David Guidry, Mark Dore, David Westbrook and Carl Westbrook.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Mason Paul Hebert, Emily Morgan Hebert and Avery James Guidry.
