Leona Jolivette Nelson

New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Leona Jolivette Nelson, 92, on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 11:00 AM at St. Edward Catholic Church with Msgr. Ron Broussard officiating. Interment will follow in St. Edward Cemetery.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 7:00 AM until services and a rosary will be prayed in the funeral home at 9:00 AM.

A native of Rynella and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Nelson died on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 7:40 AM in a New Iberia nursing home. She loved watching soap operas and crocheting.

She is survived by her sons, Arthur Jolivette, Jr. and his wife Mary Ann, Felton Jolivette and his wife Diana, Ralph Jolivette and his wife Gloria, Bradley Jolivette and his wife Yvonne, Larry Jolivette, Sr. and Rodney Jolivette and his wife Sandy all of New Iberia; her daughters, Yvonne Sonnier and her husband Darrel, Wilda Pratt all of Lafayette and Leona Zenon of Erath; her brother, John Derouen of California; 37 Grandchildren, 65 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Nelson; her first husband, Arthur Jolivette, Sr.; her parents, Alfred and Josephine Martel Derouen; her daughters, Josephine Barras and Ethel Mae Chretien; her sons, Glendel Jolivette, James Leon Jolivette and Wayne Burton Jolivette; her brothers, Nolan Derouen, Lionel Derouen, Chester Derouen, Sr. and Whitney Derouen and her sisters, Wilda Jolivet and Odeal Broussard.

Pallbearers will be David, Vance, Joshua, Brad J. Jolivette and Larry Jolivette, Jr. and Ian Auzenne.
