Loving mother and grandmother JEANERETTE " Services for Mrs. Roy Provost, Sr., the former Jane Bates, 70, will be conducted at 1:30 PM Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Jody Simoneaux officiating. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be observed Monday, April 21, 2008 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:30 PM at David Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 8:00 AM until the time of service. A native of Grove, Oklahoma, longtime resident of Jeanerette and a resident of Broussard, Mrs. Provost died at 9:00 PM Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Lafayette General Medical Center. Mrs. Provost worked as an insurance representative at Drs. James Falterman Sr., James Falterman, Jr. and K. Brown for 35 years. She loved to be with her family and friends. She also worked for Teche Electric for many years. She adored her three grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Roy Provost, Jr. and wife Amy of Youngsville; daughter, Deborah Provost of Jeanerette; three grandchildren, Kristin Sapienze of Lafayette, Charlie Sapienza of Youngsville and Jacob Jake Provost of Youngsville; and her faithful dog companion, Maggie. Mrs. Provost was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Provost, Sr.; parents, Noba and Lorraine Lefler Bates; a sister, Naomi Tommi Williams; and a brother, Billy Joe Bates. Pallbearers will be Ricky LeJeune, Barry Provost, Chuck Provost, Charlie Sapienza, Jamie Edley and Jeff Edley. Honorary pallbearers will be Barney Provost, Timmy Varnado, Kenny Crutchfield, Jake Provost, Pat Williams, Mike Williams, Allen Edley and Randy Bates.
